Introduction

Bangladesh Rural Economic Development (BRED) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental voluntary social development organization established in 1995 to improve the socio-economic status of poor and marginalized people, especially those who lack access to rights and entitlements.

Our History

Bangladesh Rural Economic Development (BRED) is established as a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental voluntary social development organization in 1995, with an aim to improve the socio-economic status of the poor, marginalized especially people those who lack access to rights and entitlements. BRED began its activities at Sirajgonj & Pabna Districts- low-lying middle region of the country. The areas are largely underdeveloped and people’s lives and livelihoods are affected by Climate change impact.

BRED has been providing different types of services to the underprivileged, poor and vulnerable men, women and children.

The organization in its 30 years of journey, has gained versatile experience in community mobilization, institution building, capacity building, implementing multi-sectoral development program.

Participatory planning are major areas of elegance, versatilities. The focus of BRED is to increase comprehensive understanding of the diverse socio economic, cultural, human rights and gender issues which, in the long run will contribute to sustainable development at regional and national levels including policy making.

BRED has also gained experience of working with Local Government Institutions such as Union Parishad, Pourashava and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) through its different socio-economic development programs. The organization has been playing its role as integrated development service provider among the helpless, needy, powerless and non-employed women as well as men to strengthen their capacity in decision making, leadership quality development, create scope of employment through income generating activities (IGA) and empowerment towards sustainability.

Geographic Coverage

BRED works across 23 districts in 6 divisions of Bangladesh, with programme experience rooted in Pabna and Sirajganj.
